About Us
The AHC-UK exists to encourage the use of information technology
as a means of enhancing historical research, teaching and understanding.
Its interests encompass the use of computers in historical methods,
the creation and use of digital and electronic sources, and the development
of computer assisted pedagogies. The AHC-UK is one of a number of
national AHC associations in Europe and North America that provides its members
with a forum for the dissemination and exchange of ideas in a rapidly
changing field.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the use of information technology in history, whether specialist or enthusiast, professional or amateur, student, educator, information professional, genealogist or local historian. Our interests cover a broad chronological time-span
from pre-history to the modern era as well as wide range of media, including
databases, encoded texts, digital images, GIS and online environments.
